Rest and Restore Yoga Workshop with Ashley Bird

With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, and our already busy lives, it’s not often enough that we give ourselves time to recharge. Come melt away stress, nourish the body, calm the mind, and release tension with this rest and restore workshop. This 2-hour workshop will work through a combination of Yin and Restorative yoga poses. We will begin with a Yin practice to lengthen and open the body, move into a restorative practice to calm and decompress the body and mind, and end with a deep relaxation.

The practice of Yin Yoga slows us down and is designed to elongate the connective tissues. Yin is unique in that you are asked to relax in the posture, soften the muscle, and move closer to the bone. It offers a much deeper access to the body. Postures are held for 3-5 minutes to target the connective tissues (ligaments and fascia) and work into the major joints of the body to increase mobility.

The practice of Restorative Yoga calms the nervous system and encourages the exploration of total relaxation. Postures are supported by blankets, bolsters and blocks, and held for longer periods of time to initiate deep relaxation.

The combination of Yin and Restorative Yoga will move you into a deeply relaxing afternoon and provide the opportunity for you to get the nourishing rest you need. You will leave feeling calm, balanced, and refreshed. Your body and mind will thank you!
